dc.description Submitted to the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women, Fifty-Third Session, 28 February - 13 March, 2009 en_US
dc.description.abstract The report is primarily designed to highlight the human right abuses and violations perpetrated on women domestic workers, through case studies carried out in several countries including Sri Lanka. Details of these transgressions were documented and submitted to the Commission on the Status of Women for internationalisation. Gender issues which come into play contribute towards the exploitation of women, particularly in South Asian countries, where women and men have different roles to play according to tradition. Gender roles are an important issue taken up for action by the Commission. en_US
