Abstract:
The paper gives comprehensive coverage of the of the international migration process in the different countries of Asia, Sri Lanka included. It exposes the trends related to migration in both the host country and the sending country, and the economic situations of these countries, pertaining to the global economic crisis. Policies and legislations in the countries of the region are discussed, as also the cooperation and pacts between these countries. Recommendations for strengthening national capacities to integrate national migration policies into development strategies are also given.
