dc.description.abstract This paper analyses the benefits of migrant remittances from housemaids in improving the living standards of households in rural Sri Lanka. It also provides some suggestions to maximize the benefits from such remittances while minimizing the expenditure incurred for migration. It stresses the importance of proper management of such remittances by the migrant and also the necessity of other income sources in the absence of the migrant. en_US
