dc.description.abstract The crucial role played by the mother in the care, nurturing and education of the child is indisputable. This study is limited to assessing the impact of the migrant mother in the education of the child. Results of a survey conducted in the Gampaha district clearly illustrates that low level of examination results is an outcome of the absentee mother. Hence it is concluded that the educational performance of children is strongly related to the presence of the mother in the household. en_US
